Crew’s Corner: “Red Sets the Record Straight”

By Red

Red’s been watching.

Shadow’s been painting.

And everyone’s been whispering.

Well, Red doesn’t whisper. Red speaks loud enough to make the point.

See, Shadow thinks he’s onto something all the brushes, colors, all that “depth of emotion” talk.

Red gets it. Really, he does. But sometimes a little too much depth drowns the show.

And Red? Red likes things that shine. Red believes in lights, headlines, applause.

So Red’s been… rearranging things.

Red agreed with the others, Shadow can try to sell these works that he spends so much time on. But Red gets to set the price.

What Red thinks they all forget is that if Shadow succeeds then so does The Underlying Human. And let’s face it, he doesn’t deserve that kind of win.

Red’s going to set the prices, but doesn’t expect much. Too much success might lead to an undo ego bump for Shadow, Red can’t have that.

Besides, it’s not like Shadow’s gonna stop painting. The guy lives for pigment as much as the Underlying Human sends to live for pain.

Red’s just making sure neither gets too comfortable.

Red calls it tough love.

The others might call it meddling.

Either way, it’ll be good television.

And at the end of the day

when the lights hit

and the cameras roll

Red will be there,

smiling in the glow,

saying what everyone

already knows:

Red always wins.

The artist currently known as The Underlying Human.
